The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) on Friday unveiled a detailed Nine-Point Plan outlining its development priorities for the period 2027 to 2031, with an emphasis on good governance, anti-corruption, food security and sustainable national development.

The plan was unveiled along with the party’s overall manifesto and newly introduced digital platforms, which party officials said were key tools to engage citizens and implement policy objectives over the next presidential term.

The agenda is underpinned by a commitment to strengthen governance and improve public service delivery. The first pillar of the plan focuses on promoting transparency, enforcing anti-corruption measures and enhancing accountability across public institutions. According to party officials, the objective is to ensure that citizens receive efficient, fair, and respectful services from government agencies.

The NPP said the plan reflects President Adama Barrow’s vision of accountable leadership and effective institutions capable of delivering tangible results for Gambians. It also pledges to create greater opportunities for young people and women, strengthen protections for children and vulnerable populations, and safeguard peace, national unity, and political stability.

The party further identified sustainable development as a central goal, stressing the need to balance present-day development needs with the interests of future generations.

Beyond governance, the remaining eight pillars cover a broad range of sectors, including national security, justice and the rule of law; education and skills development; healthcare, social protection and family welfare; agriculture, food security and rural transformation; energy, infrastructure, housing and basic services; youth and women’s empowerment and children’s rights; information and communications technology; and environmental protection and natural resource management.

Party leaders said the Nine-Point Plan serves as a practical roadmap for achieving inclusive economic growth, improving living standards, and accelerating national development during the 2027–2031 period.
