GAMBIA: Prosecution Says Ousainou Bojang’s Crime Shoes Do Not Fit

    Share

It was discovered that the combat shoes that the State had claimed Ousainou Bojang wore at the Sukuta-Jabang Traffic Lights incident did not fit his feet.

Lamin J. Darboe, Bojang’s attorney, requested that the shoes be tested in court to confirm their authenticity, which led to this disclosure. Bojang obeyed and tried to wear the shoes to the courtroom, but his heels stuck out from the rear and they were obviously too small for him.

Bojang told the court prior to the test that he had previously told former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdoulie Sanyang that his older brother, Famara Bojang, was the rightful owner of the shoes.

“The shoes did not fit me when I tried them on in front of the IGP. You see, they are not my shoes, I informed the IGP. However, that infuriated the IGP,” Ousainou Bojang told the court.

Bojang was instructed to stand by High Court Justice Ebrima Jaiteh during the courtroom protest so that the court could see.

Hon. Justice Jaiteh said, “The court noted that exhibit P26 (Shoes) could not fit the first accused person, Ousainou Bojang.”

After this, Bojang’s attorney asked for a postponement so that they could discuss trial-related matters. The lawsuit was postponed until January 13, 2025, after the court granted the motion.
