    Share

Authorities in The Gambia have made an urgent request for public help in finding Abdul Kamara, also referred to as Ramadan, a Sierra Leonean national, who is now regarded as the main suspect in the violent murder of 63-year-old Reuben Andrews, a retired banker. The murder occurred in Brufut Heights on Monday, March 10, 2025, and Kamara is thought to play a key role in the ongoing investigation.

Kamara, still at large, is being pursued for questioning in connection with the alleged homicide. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding his location to step forward. The police are encouraging the public to reach out to their local police station or call the emergency number 9968885 right away if they possess any pertinent information.

Reuben Andrews, a retired banker, was discovered dead in his bedroom, his body restrained with rope after an intruder had broken into his home. His wife notified the authorities upon finding him unresponsive. Initial investigations indicated that the residence had been thoroughly searched, resulting in the theft of valuables including laptops, phones, and substantial sums of cash—specifically $7,000, £2,000, and between D9,000 and D10,000.

A ladder and a cutlass were found at the scene, indicating the brutal nature of the crime. Surveillance footage additionally showed the presence of a watchman and a maid earlier in the day, both of whom have since disappeared. Similar to Kamara, both individuals are thought to be nationals of Sierra Leone and are presently evading capture.

Crime Scene Investigators have been diligently working at the site to collect forensic evidence, which they anticipate will assist in identifying the offenders and ensuring they face justice. Andrews was taken to Ndemban Clinic, where he was pronounced dead, and subsequently moved to the EFSTH Mortuary for a more detailed post-mortem examination.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone who may have observed suspicious activity or possesses any information to come forward and aid in resolving the case. The police are intensifying their efforts to find Kamara and the other individuals involved.

The police request that anyone with information please contact the nearest station or call the dedicated line at 9968885. The case is currently under thorough investigation, and the cooperation of the public is essential in achieving justice for the victim and his mourning family.
