The Border Patrol Unit of the Gambia Immigration Department has intercepted a total of 107 would-be migrants across five different communities within a span of two days.
On Friday, 17th April 2026, the Border Patrol Unit (BPU), stationed at Tanji, conducted successful interceptions of ninety-four (94) would-be migrants and two (2) suspected agents in the coastal communities of Gunjur, Tujereng, and Sinchang Village.
The group comprised six (6) Gambians, fifty-one (51) Senegalese, sixteen (16) Guineans, eleven (11) Malians, six (6) Sudanese, two (2) Somalians, one (1) Ivorian, and one (1) Yemeni national.

Separately, on Thursday, 16th April 2026, the NBR Border Patrol Unit intercepted five (5) would-be migrants at Mayamba Village.
These interceptions indicate the Gambia Immigration Department’s Border Patrol Unit’s effective operational capacity and proactiveness in disrupting irregular migration journeys through vigilance and alertness.
