GAMBIA: Brikama Area Council Gets New Garbage Trucks

    Share

In order to improve garbage collection services throughout the West Coast Region, the Brikama Area Council (BAC), led by Chairman Yankuba Darboe, has partnered strategically with ESPASS Motors to purchase three trucks and two pickups.

According to Chairman Darboe, the council’s prior trucks had issues and needed expensive, frequent repair. He pointed out that a German business had originally acquired these trucks and had given them to the Brikama Area Council when it departed the area.

It was not here that those trucks (the ancient trucks) were purchased. The Brikama Area Council received them from a German business that was using them on their way back. Chairman Yankuba Darboe stated, “We were only using them because we had a lot of work to complete.”

He conveyed his happiness with the new vehicles, stating that the entire region is excited about the new additions, as are the BAC management and employees. “These new trucks have made the entire BAC staff and management happy today.” The whole area is content. These will assist us in maintaining our roads, carrying sand and stones, and collecting trash, among many other things. We have begun working with ESPASS Motors, and because our territory is so large, we will be adding more trucks each year. I would want to thank them for that,” he said.

Eight more trucks are anticipated to arrive soon, according to Chairman Darboe, who also delivered good news about the fleet’s future ambitions.

“To finish the work, we need more trucks. Eight more trucks are on the horizon. Of the eight, five are skip trucks and compactor trucks. We also have a bulldozer, a large shovel, and a truck that will be picking up the large waste cases that are lying around. Thus, in total, we anticipate eight more that have not yet arrived,” he stated.

The remaining trucks will be delivered in January, according to Jim Gaye, an ESPASS Motors spokesperson.

We won this public tender after it underwent a thorough review and received GPPA approval. It was a phased process. Since this is the first phase of the stock we have on hand, we delivered it now rather than waiting for the next one. We have eight more in the works, so by January, you should be able to commission them, Gaye promised.
