President Adama Barrow has vowed to replicate the development projects his administration claims to have delivered in Banjul to the Kanifing Municipality (KMC), urging voters to judge presidential contenders by their past records in government and not on election campaign promises.
The president met residents at a Meet-the-People Tour gathering in Manjai Kunda on Sunday October 18, 2026 and reiterated his government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and essential services like roads, electricity, water supply and healthcare.
He called on residents who wished to see the continuation of these development initiatives to support his administration in the December 5 presidential election, adding that those who did not share his vision were free to support alternative candidates.
Mr. Barrow described KMC as an important political constituency with an informed electorate, urging residents to carefully examine the backgrounds and performance of those aspiring to lead the country.
“KMC is an important region; it is part of the capitals, so we expect that you are educated, aware, and know politics. So we expect, if you are to elect, you will scrutinise and know who does the work and who doesn’t,” he said.
He stressed that leadership should be measured by concrete achievements, arguing that holding public office comes with the responsibility of improving people’s lives rather than seeking personal comfort.
The president also challenged the records of some presidential hopefuls who had previously occupied positions of authority, saying voters should consider what they accomplished while in office before entrusting them with the presidency.
His comments come amid growing political activity ahead of the December 5 election, as infrastructure development and the delivery of public services remain central to the campaign debate.
