President Adama Barrow on Tuesday officially opened the QGroup House along Kairaba Avenue, marking a significant step in The Gambia’s move toward a more digitally driven future.

The ceremony also introduced the country’s first data centre, QFiber, as well as QCell Avenue — an initiative aimed at strengthening data security, improving connectivity for homes and businesses, and supporting the growth of a more inclusive digital economy.

Speaking at the event, President Barrow praised QGroup as a strong example of local innovation and ownership. He highlighted that the project was developed, funded, and executed by Gambians, combining clear vision with advanced technology, including artificial intelligence. He added that the initiative aligns with the goals of the “Yiriwa” National Development Plan.

QGroup CEO Muhammed Jah described the launch as a platform that brings together industries, opportunities, and people. He thanked the Barrow administration, especially the Ministry of Digital Economy, for its collaboration with the private sector, noting that the project reflects QGroup’s commitment to the country’s digital transformation.

President Barrow also pointed out that QGroup has extended its reach beyond The Gambia, demonstrating that local businesses can compete internationally. “This goes beyond commercial success — it represents progress in action,” he said.

He further acknowledged the company’s role as one of the country’s major private employers and its consistent record of meeting tax obligations, as recognised by the Gambia Revenue Authority.

The launch of QGroup House is seen as an important milestone, reinforcing The Gambia’s path toward a more connected and forward-looking economy.
