The Government of The Gambia marked another significant development benchmark as His Excellency President Adama Barrow commissioned the landmark 91‑kilometer Kiang West Roads Project in the Lower River Region (LRR), yesterday.

This intervention fulfils a long‑awaited dream for the LRR, as for decades, the region endured isolation due to lack of roads, electricity, clean water, and limited schools and health facilities.

The project connects communities in two phases:

• Phase One: Sankandi, Jiffarong, Bajana, Kuli Kunda, Keneba, Manduar, Kuyang, and Karantaba.

• Phase Two: Jolli, Tankular, Keneba, Kemoto, Mandina, Janneh Kunda, Jula Kunda, Burang, Taburankoto, Misira Tenda, Jissay, and Kanto Kunda.

In his remarks, President Barrow highlighted the transformative impact of the project in improving connectivity, enhancing road safety. He further urged all road users to maintain the road and respect traffic regulations in safeguarding this important investment which is among the evidence of his commitment to inclusive national development.

Village heads and other community representatives commended President Barrow’s leadership for the numerous development initiatives their regions continue to benefit from. They pledged their full support to the government’s vision for national progress.
