GAMBIA: UMC Supports Newly Elected Officials with Fleet of Five Trucks

    Share

On Monday, the opposition movement, Unite Movement for Change (UMC), presented five new pickup trucks to its newly elected regional leaders. Movement officials stated that this initiative would greatly enhance its grassroots organizing efforts across the country.

The vehicles were delivered at the movement’s headquarters in Fajara after last week’s congress, where regional leaders were elected and bureaus were officially established in each region. The pickups were distributed to the regional chairs across the Upper River Region, Lower River Region, North Bank Region, and both the Central River Region North and South.

UMC stated that the vehicles would enable its regional leadership to “efficiently conduct outreach and community engagements” while enhancing the coordination of movement activities in their respective areas.

Movement officials characterized the deployment as a component of a wider strategy aimed at reinforcing what they referred to as a grassroots approach to political organizing. UMC aims to deepen its presence in rural and underserved communities by expanding its logistical capacity, ensuring more consistent engagement with supporters.

The allocation of vehicles occurs at a moment when political parties are placing greater emphasis on strengthening their frameworks outside urban areas, where the struggle for influence has heightened in anticipation of upcoming electoral cycles.

With operational bureaus now set up across the nation, UMC leaders indicated that the extra resources would aid in transforming organizational growth into ongoing grassroots efforts, enabling the movement to broaden its influence throughout all areas of the country.
