Mr. Ebrima Cham, national coordinator of The Patriotic Alliance for System Transformations and Emancipation Through Functionalism (PASTEF) The Gambia, outlines the aspirations of this newly established movement, in an interview with AG Radio on Tuesday morning. Pastef Gambia must remain distinct from the Pastef political party in Senegal. The names remain identical, yet they carry distinct meanings.
Mr. Cham states that this movement was established in August 2024. Initially, they began by forming a political movement known as the Afro movement, founded by an individual named Bouba. Another political party exists, known as ANRD, which is led by Momodou Jallow. Another movement called Convergence of Unity and Peace (CUP). All these movements, along with a few others, united to create what is now known as PASTEF The Gambia. The movement currently boasts over 10,000 members.
Mr. Cham expressed that the ideology of PASTEF The Gambia employs a system-based approach, emphasising that to transform the country, one must first alter the existing system. Once the system is altered, a leader will be chosen to guide the movement. This is the reason Mr. Momodou Jallow is not the true leader, but merely an interim leader for the present moment.
PASTEF The Gambia invites all Gambians to participate in its mission of transformation and systemic emancipation, heralding a new era of political and civic engagement in this country.
