While his return home is announced for next Thursday, Macky Sall gives news that will surely not please his supporters who insist on his return home. In an interview with RFI Fulbe, the former President of the Republic of Senegal affirms that his return to Senegal is not on the agenda for the moment.

You know, my return to Senegal is not yet on the agenda. Once decided, I will make an official announcement myself and the information will circulate. By leaving Senegal, I have only respected tradition, because when a president is despised in power, he must step down to leave it to his successors so that they can do well,” declared Macky Sall.

Continuing, the former head of state explains his comeback in the political arena. “My allies, my companions asked me to come back to lead the list to either win this election, or be part of those who will help the people get out of the difficult situation they are facing today, because the new regime has been there for seven months, but nothing and we are afraid that if nothing is done, it will be difficult for the Senegalese.

Regarding the migration of APR political leaders to Pastef, Macky says he is not surprised at all. “I am not surprised and it could perhaps create a situation of discouragement, but I do not think that it could have an impact on the progress of our political activities. In any case, the expression of the vote is up to the Senegalese. For the rest, I have no comment to make,” he says.

This statement by Macky Sall suggests that he is not going to come to Senegal to campaign alongside the Takku Wallu coalition, of which he remains the head of the list. Everyone has their own way of campaigning. While PM Ousmane Sonko has been crisscrossing the regions of Senegal with his convoys since Sunday, Macky Sall has been using posts, tweets and phone calls to campaign from Morocco, where he has settled.
