After spending 177 days in detention while waiting for his trial, Ablie Sanyang is now going to be able to return home to celebrate this Ramadan with his family. Let us give thanks to the Great God Almighty.
The AG Radio and Askani Gambia newspaper would like to use this opportunity to express sincere appreciation to all Gambians and non-Gambians alike, both at home and in the diaspora, for their unwavering support in the fight for Mr. Abdoulie Sanyang’s freedom.
This morning, Justice Ebrime Jaiteh gave the verdict of acquittal and discharge at the High Court in Banjul. AG Radio had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Sanyang after the verdict was finally delivered.
Mr. Sanyang is in a good mood and cannot express how delighted he is to be at home today. During those difficult times, he would like to convey his gratitude to everyone, both Gambian and non-Gambian, who prayed for him and advocated for his release.
To quote Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who famously said, “Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty we are free at last”
