Thursday, April 10, 2025, Mr. Barthalomeh Bolo Colley, the NPP candidate for the upcoming Half Die Ward By-elections, delivered his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) Regional Office in Banjul.
Following the submission of his nomination papers, Mr. Bolo Colley, who would run for the Ward seat under the National People’s Party (NPP), addressed the media.
Colley, who was born and reared in Half-Die, stated: “I live within the community.” I am aware of the difficulties that my community has, and I think I can help find some solutions. He asserts that the NPP is a stronghold in Half-Die and that there is no reason why the party shouldn’t win the upcoming by-election.
Mr. Colley stated, “We will be certain of our victory even though we will go through the formal process.”
Because the Half-Die Ward is a stronghold for the NPP party, Hon. Seedy SK Njie, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, stated that his party is optimistic about winning the upcoming by-election.
“In the most recent local government, parliamentary, and presidential elections, we have won the Half-Die Ward. This demonstrates our deep ties to Banjul in general and this Ward in particular. We are confident that we will win this by-election, and the NPP remains thankful to the people of Banjul for their support of our party,” Hon. Njie stated.
According to Deputy Speaker Njie, Banjul residents continue to have faith in the NPP.
The NPP’s Constituency Chairperson, Mr. Ousman Wadda, stated that from the party’s founding, they have won every election in Halt-Die Ward.
The voters in Half-Die Ward know us, and we know them, so we are not afraid of the upcoming by-election. Therefore, we are confident that they would pay attention to us and support our candidate anytime we speak with them,” he stated.
Half-Die is one large family, according to the chairperson of the NPP Constituency, and the party’s nominee was selected by the electorate. He claimed that the residents of the Ward sent them Bolo Colley’s name during the selection process.
This demonstrates that the community chose Bolo. Thus, he ought to be able to secure our party’s seat,” Mr. Wadda stated.
