A BMW sedan that was allegedly used by armed robbers who stole at least a million dalasis during a daylight attack on a Banjul store was found by the Gambia Police Force on Sunday night.
According to police spokesperson Modou Musa Sisawo, police have arrested the owner of a car believed to have been involved in the armed robbery that occurred at El Hella Shop on Daniel Goddard Street on Sunday morning. The owner who was arrested on Bund Road is being questioned by detectives.
Furthermore, he said preliminary investigations reveal that two suspects arrived in an ash-colored BMW without a license plate parked across from the store, one wearing a face mask and the other not.
Before stealing D1,245,000.00 and CFA1,650,000, he explained, CCTV footage showed the suspects entering the store, threatening customers, and brandishing a pistol. They fled the scene in the same vehicle.
The police said they are investigating the incident and asked anyone who knows anything relevant to it to contact them immediately.
