GAMBIA: President Faye Arrives in The Gambia for Key Bilateral Talks

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye arrived in The Gambia on Saturday on a one-day working visit, highlighting the strong and lasting relationship between the two neighbouring countries.

In Banjul, President Faye was welcomed by President Adama Barrow and senior officials of government. The visit will also see discussions between the two leaders on various issues of mutual interest including trade, security, economic cooperation and regional integration.

The Gambia and Senegal have long-standing close ties based on common history, culture and geography. It’s not just government-to-government cooperation, but communities on both sides of the border have deep social and economic ties.” The visit will allow the two countries to review ongoing joint initiatives and identify new areas for cooperation.

Subjects such as infrastructure development, cross-border trade and regional security are likely to be high on the agenda. The leaders are also expected to exchange views on wider developments in West Africa where governments continue to face economic and security challenges.

President Faye’s visit highlights the importance both countries place on dialogue and cooperation in their efforts to enhance bilateral relations and promote shared goals for growth, stability and regional progress.
