On December 21, 2024, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), The Gambia’s oldest political party, held its elective convention in Banjul. A historic turning point was reached at the convention when Kebba Jallow was replaced as party head by Ousman Madikay Faal.
Mr. Faal became the first person to defeat an incumbent in the PPP, which was a historic development. This accomplishment demonstrates the party’s dedication to democracy and its capacity to hold leaders responsible.
Speaking to Kerr Fatou, Kebba Nanko conveyed his satisfaction with the party’s advancements and underlined the significance of maintaining unity going forward. To secure a bright future, he emphasised the importance of concentrating on reorganising the party’s organisational structure. Nanko said, “The PPP wants to carry on its tradition of creating history in the Gambian political landscape.”
