Omar Badjie’s family has demanded justice and an open investigation into the circumstances surrounding his murder. Badjie allegedly died after being beaten by cops.
During a government officials’ condolence visit, Omar’s uncle Tumani Badjie spoke on behalf of the Badjie Kunda family and urged authorities to ensure responsibility and truth.
“Let’s be truthful. We want Omar to get justice. “We want truth and accountability for him, but we won’t get him back,” Mr. Badjie said.
The family feels that police actions directly caused Omar’s death, he emphasized, dismissing claims that officers just shoved him. The family voiced worries that officials could try to hide the facts or give a false version of what happened.
In order to ensure transparency, Mr. Badjie underlined the necessity of an impartial investigation that includes the family’s own physician and attorney.
“We will not pardon if the probe into this issue is concealed. He cautioned, “We don’t want any other family or children to experience this.
He also expressed concern about the inexperience and excessive force employed by young police officers, claiming that they frequently disregard elders and do not perform their jobs well.
He said that the community’s grief and rage over Omar’s passing were reflected in Saturday’s youth demonstrations.
“I implore those in positions of power: the issue is the young police. He said, “They don’t know how to do the work, and they don’t recognize elders.”
In closing, the family urged the government to stop police brutality and accept full accountability for the officers’ acts.
