The National Democratic Party (NDP) has strongly warned the National People’s Party (NPP) leadership to act quickly to put an end to what it claims are ongoing personal assaults against NDP officials and leaders by some of its members.
The National Democratic Party (NDP) has delivered a firm warning to the leadership of the National People’s Party (NPP), calling for immediate action to halt what it characterizes as ongoing personal attacks by certain members directed at NDP leaders and officials.
The NDP expressed concern that if the ruling party does not address the issue, it may be forced to issue public rebuttals, consider legal action, and engage its supporters through peaceful and lawful means to seek accountability.
The opposition party expressed its concern regarding a notable figure from the NPP, known as Mama Jabbie, who has consistently engaged in personal attacks and made “serious public allegations” against NDP leader Kebba Madi Bojang and other members of the party.“The allegations presented in public forums have already put a strain on the relationship between our two parties and pose a risk of further escalating tensions,” stated the NDP.
The NDP emphasized its commitment to employing all legal measures to safeguard its leader, members, and supporters, characterizing the statement as a definitive warning to the NPP leadership.
The party said that although it has no interest in personal grudges, it “will not tolerate deliberate acts of character assassination” and urged the ruling NPP to take immediate and decisive action to address the problem.
The party called on the ruling NPP to take prompt and firm action to address the issue, emphasizing that although it has no desire for personal vendettas, it “will not accept intentional acts of character assassination.”The NDP presented a number of important requests to the NPP, which include:
- Publicly condemn and call to order any NPP member who makes unfounded personal attacks or spreads false allegations against Kebba Madi Bojang and NDP officials.
- Require an immediate retraction or clarification from the individual(s) responsible for these allegations, accompanied by a formal apology.
- Institute internal disciplinary measures against any NPP official who continues to use abusive language or make unverified claims that inflame partisan tensions.
- Address potential defamation or unlawful conduct through lawful and direct communication channels with the NDP, rather than allowing such statements to persist unchallenged in public.
- Commit to maintaining respectful and constructive dialogue between our parties to safeguard civic space, national unity, and responsible opposition.
“If these steps are not taken, the NDP is ready to seek lawful and measured remedies to safeguard the reputation of our leader and our party,” the statement cautioned.
The NDP reaffirmed its commitment to national progress and constructive engagement, emphasizing that such cooperation should be rooted in “truthful, dignified, and responsible public discourse.”
