On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the National Democratic Party (NDP) announced that it has officially submitted its application for registration as a political party to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC)
The party states that this action aligns with the Electoral Laws of The Gambia and represents a significant advancement in its quest to create a national political platform.
NDP has confirmed in its application that it has submitted a written constitution outlining the party’s aims, objectives, structure, and governance. The party has supplied the names, addresses, and signatures of registered members from all seven administrative regions and has set up operational regional offices throughout the country. The registration fee has been duly paid, and the party has submitted its emblem, colours, and motto in alignment with national values and IEC standards.
Furthermore, NDP has pledged to perform yearly financial audits and uphold a national identity devoid of ethnic, tribal, or religious prejudice.
The party characterized the registration as a significant achievement in establishing a platform dedicated to people-centered leadership, integrity, and national development. It conveyed assurance that the IEC would handle the application in compliance with legal standards.
“Together, we build a better Gambia,” the statement concluded.
