President Adama Barrow appointed a delegation to represent him to the Arab-Islamic Summit in Saudi Arabia, according to the Gambian government’s Ministry of Information.
The mission is made up of Ambassador OJ, Yankuba Dibba, the CEO of the OIC Secretariat, Momodou Sabally, the President’s Special Advisor, and Dr. Momodou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad.
Given his position as OIC Chairman, President Barrow, who is presently on a private trip to Morocco, came under fire on social media for skipping the conference.
“The Government of The Gambia wishes to inform the public that His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, has sent a delegation to the Arab-Islamic Summit in Saudi Arabia,” the Ministry of Information explained in response. His Excellency Ambassador OJ Sallah, the President’s Special Advisor Momodou Sabally, Yankuba Dibba, the CEO of the OIC Secretariat, and Dr. Momodou Tangara, Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, are also part of the delegation.
With the intention of aiding Palestine and Lebanon, the administration said that the extraordinary “emergency Arab-Islamic Summit,” which is not an OIC Summit, will begin Monday in Riyadh.
Furthermore, the Gambia’s government would like to let everyone know that the country will be attending COP29. His Excellency Vice President Muhammad BS. Jallow will lead the delegation, which also consists of a technical team, the Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Security, Dr. Demba Sabally, and the Hon. Minister of Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources, Rohey John Manjang, they concluded.
