GAMBIA: Ministry of Health Sets Mental Health Agenda with 2025 Investment Case Reports

    Share

Today marks a historic moment for our nation as we witnessed the powerful convergence of political will, global expertise, and community commitment.

The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO), UNDP The Gambia, UN Interagency Task Force on NCDs and committed civil society organizations, officially launched The Gambia’s Mental Health Investment Case.

This initiative positions mental health not merely as a medical concern, but as a strategic investment in human capital, social progress, and sustainable development. The Investment Case provides compelling economic evidence that underscores the high costs of inaction versus the substantial benefits of developing accessible, community-based mental health care.

Beyond being a report, this Investment Case serves as a national call to action; to eliminate stigma, strengthen mental health systems, and guarantee that all Gambians receive the care and dignity they deserve.
