According to Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, the Minister of Information, the Gambian government would raise civil servant salaries beginning in January of next year. Ministers, however, will not be included in this change.

Ministers’ salaries are unaffected throughout this period; only those in grades one through twelve are. It is a very, very, very nice thing that everyone, from grade one to PS, will receive a pay raise in January. The cost of living crisis is well known to all of us. The Information Minister told West Coast Radio on Tuesday that this will help close the gap between earnings and the rising cost of necessities.There have been two increases in civil servant pay since President Adama Barrow assumed office in 2017: a 50% rise in January 2019 and a 30% increase in July 2022.
