In an interview with AG Radio on Saturday, Marie Sock, the leader of the Alliance for Social Democrats (ASD), outlines several reasons why she believes she is the ideal candidate for the 2026 presidential elections. Following Dr. Isatou Touray’s decision to join the coalition supporting President Adama Barrow in 2016, Marie Sock emerged as the first Gambian woman to attain a notable role in Gambian politics and the first woman to submit her nomination for the presidency in 2021.

Marie Sock asserts that her Alliance for Social Democrats (ASD) possesses the most effective agenda to rescue Gambia from hunger through significant investments in rice cultivation. She expressed that the 10-point agenda of the Alliance for Social Democrats (ASD) is an all-encompassing program that tackles every issue facing Gambia.

In relation to joining a coalition ahead of the 2026 presidential elections, Marie expressed that the Alliance for Social Democrats (ASD) is primarily seeking endorsements from other parties rather than pursuing a coalition or alliance. She also mentioned that the sole coalition the Alliance for Social Democrats (ASD) will participate in is one led by Honourable Halifa Sallah.
