    GAMBIA: Major Blow to Traffickers: 15 Nabbed in Gambian Drug Bust

    The suspects, whose ages range from 20 to 57, were captured at multiple sites nationwide from December 12 to December 21, 2025.

    Among those arrested were Sheik Omar Mboge, 57, from Brufut, who was found with 210 packs of suspected cannabis and over D105,000 in cash; Mamadou Jallow, 53, a baker from Youna Angalleh, who was arrested with 109 parcels of suspected cannabis; and Muhammed Drammeh, 26, from Brikama Gidda, who was in possession of 112 pieces of suspected hashish.

    DLEAG has also arrested three Senegalese nationals: Muhammed Sallah, 30, and Muhammed Touray, 21, at the Kalaji checkpoint, where they were found with 503 ecstasy pills and a motorcycle; and Modou Touray, 27, a resident of Touba, at the Jenoi checkpoint, who was in possession of two bundles of suspected cannabis.

    Among the other arrests were Ousman Saine, 42, from Brikama Misera, found with two parcels and 83 wraps of suspected cannabis; Ousainou Sanneh, 30, from Yundum, in possession of 94 wraps of suspected cannabis; and Muhammed Cham, 25, from Farafenni, caught with 75 ecstasy pills.

    Other suspects and their purported seizures include:

    Bakary Sanyang, 22, of Brikama Gidda—one stone and 25 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa.

    Lamin Keita, 24, of Brufut—two bundles of suspected cannabis sativa.

    Essa Sowe, 20—two bags of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk).

    Lamin Kuyateh, 36, of Tanji—48 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa.

    Hamidou Kumba Sir, 27, of Jalanbang — three parcels of suspected cannabis sativa.

    Ali Cham, 20, of Ebotown—15 wraps of suspected kush concealed in papers and a transparent medical sachet.

    “All suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue,” DLEAG said in a statement.

    The arrests represent one of the agency’s most significant coordinated drug enforcement initiatives in recent months.
