Former President Yahya Jammeh has extended a New Year prayer for The Gambia and its citizens, conveying goodwill that transcends religious and political boundaries as the nation approaches 2026.
In an audio message shared on social media, Jammeh—who has been in exile since his loss in the 2016 presidential election—spoke to Gambians both at home and abroad, calling for blessings of peace, prosperity, and national well-being.
“As we enter the new year, my family and everybody, and my greater family, the APRC, Gambian people, everybody, irrespective of your party affiliation, irrespective of your beliefs, may the Almighty Allah grant us the best of this, may the beginning of the best of our lives begin with 2026.”
Jammeh offered prayers for achievement, peace, prosperity, and happiness for all Gambians, stating, “May the Almighty Allah grant us success in all good endeavors that benefit the world, humanity, and serve the worship of the Almighty Allah.”
He ended the prayer by asking Allah to grant the people of Gambia gratitude, appreciation, and love, and to provide them with the finest blessings in this life and the next.
“May the Almighty Allah grant us in our hearts gratefulness, appreciation, and love; may the Almighty Allah give us the best of everything in this world; and in the hereafter grant us the highest Jannah”, he said.
