Ben Suwareh, in a radio program on AG Radio last night provided insights on four significant developments currently making headlines.

President Adama Barrow’s choice to extend his holiday to Morocco was announced recently, yet further specifics were not disclosed. This led to widespread speculations, with certain sources claiming that the trip to Morocco was connected to the president’s health.

It was contended that the terms of FAR Ltd.’s agreement with the government of Gambia prioritized the company’s interests over those of the nation. In 2023, the government granted FAR Ltd. a 12-month extension for the R5 A2 and A5 blocks, which included no investment requirements and reduced statutory costs. Even with these favourable conditions, FAR Ltd. relinquished its licenses without incurring penalties and discontinued operations, citing unsuccessful attempts to attract new investors.

Dr. Mustapha Bittaye, the Chief Medical Director at EFSTH, has claimed that a recent pipeline issue at Denton Bridge has caused water disruptions across Banjul, impacting not only the hospital but also various areas of the city. “Dr. Bittaye mentioned that they are seeking assistance from the fire service for water.” He noted that the hospital had recently been linked to Banjul’s central water tank to address shortages in the event of malfunctions in the hospital’s own tanks.

Recently, the Spanish Diplomatic Antenna announced that “some private agencies are reportedly charging up to D50,000 for recruitment for the Spanish program,” cautioning against firms that require fees for recruitment.

Clear explanations are essential, as these news stories are all shrouded in uncertainty.
