The National People’s Party (NPP) has officially announced the resignation of Kebba Madi Bojang, its former National Youth President, and three of his associates.
Bojang, Lamin Jatta (NPP member), Lamin Touray (former Deputy Youth Public Relations Officer), and Sainey Manneh (former Regional Public Relations Officer) all signed a statement stating that they had decided to depart due to “personal and collective conviction.”
The letter said, “We are grateful for the chance to serve under the NPP and to support the party’s expansion and activities.” The group also thanked the party’s followers, members, and leadership for their cooperation and trust throughout their time there.
Their departure follows the NPP’s announcement in June that they would be removed from their executive positions due to alleged violations of the party’s ethics and constitution. Before making that declaration, there were rumors that Bojang and his associates were planning to start a new political party in order to oppose President Adama Barrow’s run for a third term.
At the moment, Bojang is in charge of the National Democratic Party (NDP), an unregistered political organization.
