    Today, in a historic event, the Hon. Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Habibatou Drame officially Inaugurated the first Professional Standard Board for Teachers.

    Established under the Education Act 2018, the inauguration of this Board demonstrates MoBSE’s commitment towards improving quality teaching and learning while recognizing the vital role of teachers in shaping our future.

    The membership of the Professional Standard Board is diverse, comprising of seasoned, professional, and passionate educators united by a shared vision: ensuring that every child in The Gambia receives quality education from motivated and well-supported teachers.

    The responsibilities entrusted to this Board are profound, including the critical task of establishing the Teacher Service Commission.

    In thanking the various Board members for accepting to take-up this noble challenge, Hon. Minister Drame noted that the Board is expected to be a strong advocate for the welfare and professional development of teachers.

    She added that, a thriving education system depends on empowered teachers – those who are continuously trained, well-resourced, and motivated to give their very best.
