A fire outbreak at the Naval Command in Banjul on Friday killed Gambia Navy officer Richard Mendy and injured two of his colleagues, according to the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF).
A man who was described as the gasoline truck’s escort also passed away from his wounds. According to reports, every person hurt in the incident was admitted to the hospital.
A Jah Oil-hired fuel tanker was transporting the Gambia Navy’s monthly fuel supply when the fire started at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, according to GAF. As dense smoke billowed above the blazing inferno, darkening the skyline, the tragedy caused terror in the capital.
The men who were killed and injured have not been identified.
