Today, the National Assembly will review and approve D52,980, 894,173 billion in government estimates, recurring expenses, and expenditures for the fiscal year 2025, as presented by the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs.
Compared to the D42 billion budget that was authorized by the National Assembly last year, it shows an increase of more than D10 billion.
The Government Local Fund is projected to reach D37, 848,776 billion, or 71.44 percent, of the D52.9 billion estimates. Grants are estimated to be worth D12,643, 119, or 23.86 percent, while loans are estimated to be worth D2,488, 998 billion, or 4.70 percent.
According to the estimates, the current budget will increase from the D27,262,555 approved last year to D31,176,855 billion.
It is suggested that salaries and wages be raised from D7,359,495 billion in 2024 to D8,888,079 billion.
The projected capital expenditure for 2024 is D15,958,419 billion, up from D11,866,383 in 2021.
Additionally, it is projected that interest payment expenditures will increase from the D5,133,095 billion authorized in 2024 to D5,881,643 billion.

From the over D872 million approved in 2024, the Office of the President is estimated to cost D1,085, 644 billion; the Ministry of Education is estimated to cost D5,086,487 billion; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D2,402, 022 billion; the Ministry of Works and Transport D2,166,783 billion; the Ministry of Finance D2,491,366 billion; Centralized Services D1,350,721 billion; the Ministry of Health D2,657,743 billion; the Ministry of Energy D1,263,413 billion; the Ministry of Defense D1,065, 742 billion; the Ministry of Interior D1,896,572 billion; and the National Debt Service is estimated to cost D11,017,789 billion.
Additionally, some ministries that previously benefited from large budgets have seen low allocations. For example, the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget is estimated at D945,706 million, or just 2.50 percent, while the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology’s budget is estimated at D296,630 million.
The estimated budget for the Ministry of Youths and Sport is D133,055 million, or 0.35 percent of the overall budget.
D442,062 million is the estimated budget for the National Assembly, D341,228 million for the Judiciary, and D298,254 million for the IEC.
