Gambians in large numbers attended the mournful interment of Dr. Momodou Lamin Sedat Jobe at the Pipeline Mosque yesterday. He was eighty-one.
The Jobe family, government representatives, lawmakers, businesspeople, members of the private sector, and others from a wide range of backgrounds attended the funeral.
Dr. Jobe’s neighbour in Bansang, Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow, called him a pious Muslim.
“This nation has suffered a significant loss. We lived next door in Bansang, so I’ve known him since I was a young child. We are friends with relatives. He was a devout Muslim and a decent neighbour.
“He was somebody who loved this country very much and he has fought for good things for the country both locally and abroad as a diplomat,” he stated.
In his prayer, Chief Justice Jallow asked Allah Ta’ala to give the late Dr. Jobe the highest rank in Paradise.
Dr. Jobe’s passing was a huge loss for The Gambia and her people, according to Bakary Bunja Dabo, the secretary general and leader of Gambia For All (GFA). “Jobe had many qualities,” he added.
Former Economy Minister and Vice President Dabo admitted, “When opportunity was given to him, he did his best.”
Dr. Jobe was a devout Muslim who loved his family and the nation as a whole, according to Imam Baba Leigh.
“Dr. Sidat Jobe has worked for the country and fought for it when he was needed the most,” he stated.
He did, however, caution against politics dividing the nation, pointing out that all political actors and parties have seen Dr. Jobe’s final rest.
