President Adama Barrow has made the following changes to his Cabinet, effective immediately, in accordance with the authority granted to him by Sections 71 (1) and 1 (3) of the 1997 Constitution of The Gambia.
Sering Modou Njie, Minister for Defence, has been given the new responsibility of Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad.
Mr. Njie possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in International Relations. Honourable Njie, a native of Medina Sering Mass, began his military career in 1989. By 1998, he served as the Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Armed Forces. He advanced to become the Head of the Republic National Guard in 2011, later taking on the role of Deputy Head of Mission at the Gambia High Commission in New Delhi, India. Honourable Njie held various roles at the Gambia Embassy in Turkey prior to his appointment as Minister for Defence in 2022.
At the same time, Muhammed B.S. Jallow, the Vice President, has been given the duty of supervising the Ministry of Defence.
