After his European tour, Ousainou Darboe, the leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), was greeted with joy and appreciation by many young men and women. Speaking to the crowd, Darboe gave the young people his word that a UDP-led government will give priority to their issues.

Darboe welcomed the young people’s need for change and referred to them as his “daughters, sons, and grandchildren,” stressing that the UDP is the only way to bring about significant improvements in their lives.

“They are crying for employment; it is not a privilege, it is a right, and they could have been properly employed if the billions of Dalasi by this incompetent government were properly applied in creating jobs, advancing the fish industry, promoting agriculture, and improving health service delivery,” he said.

Darboe emphasized that the Barrow administration’s targeted focus on these crucial areas might significantly improve the welfare of the nation’s children.

“My promise to you is that with an Ousainu Darboe-led government, your needs will be attended to. We are not just making promises because when we were there for about 18 months, we showed what we can do,” he continued.

The UDP leader also promised that a government led by Darboe will be responsive, disciplined, and completely focused on the concerns of the populace.

Darboe told supporters outside his Pipeline property that Gambians living abroad are well aware of the country’s difficulties. He saw throughout his visit that they were really committed to working with the UDP to bring about the change they all want over the course of the next thirteen months.

He went on to say that these people are especially worried about the Barrow administration’s alleged flaws, incompetence, corruption, and subpar living circumstances. “But I think you are more concerned because I see several young men and women whom I consider to be my daughters, sons, and grandchildren.”
