    GAMBIA: Burglary at the National Audit Office, Laptops Valued at D351,000.00 were Stolen

    A backpack and laptops with a combined value of D351,000.00 were taken from the ICT Support Office located within the National Audit Office, and the police are currently conducting an investigation into the burglary that occurred there.


    Two individuals who have not been recognized were seen entering the building and leaving with the things, as captured by the CCTV camera. Despite the fact that the crime scene was investigated by CID and CSI teams, fingerprint collection was not possible because of the contamination that had occurred previous to the arrival of the police.

    As part of the inquiry, a number of individuals have been taken into custody and are currently being questioned.

    The chief suspect, Modou Mustapha Jallow, also known as Jamaica, was taken into custody by the police on Friday, July 25, 2025, during a night operation that took place close to the Westfield Cooperative area. This was a significant breakthrough. After being under constant surveillance and receiving aid from a source, he was taken into custody.

    Modou Mustapha Jallow has admitted to being the burglar who committed the crime and has also admitted to selling the stolen laptops at the black market in Serrekunda. Meanwhile, investigators are making a concerted effort to locate and apprehend the person who is believed to have received the stolen material and to retrieve it altogether.
