The Office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has approved the activist group Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA) to conduct a protest on Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, under specific conditions.

The approved permit stipulates that the following conditions are to be strictly adhered to:

    • The protest shall be limited to the timeframe specified in this approved permit.
    • The protest will commence at Iceman Junction (Kanifing) and proceed to the Youth Monument, Westfield.
    • A delegation consisting of five members is the only group authorized to present the petitions to the relevant institutions.
    • The press briefing will take place at the front gate of the Youth Monument, located opposite St. Therese’s Church.
    • That the protest remains within the boundaries of the law.
    • That no derogatory words or remarks should be directed towards any individual, as this may ultimately lead to a disturbance of the peace. The police have issued a warning that any breach of these conditions may lead to the cancellation of the protest permit and could result in criminal charges. The permit instructed the Commissioner of Police for the Kanifing Region to guarantee that sufficient security is in place throughout the event. “This permit requests that CP Kanifing Region provide security for the protest,” the permit stated.
