Dear ASN (Alagi Salieu Njie),
Good morning.
I listened to the audio you sent me last night, an interesting piece. Some individuals are highly ambitious, which is not necessarily a bad trait, but it often comes at the cost of neglecting reality.
If Mr. Camara had analysed the fate of nearly twenty small, newly formed parties during the last election, he would have seen that over 90% of them disappeared almost immediately even before crossing the registration threshold for election participation.
The few that managed to persist ultimately aligned with Barrow’s government to secure positions within the NPP administration.
This raises the question of whether Mr. Camara is pursuing a similar strategy, or if his efforts are simply a waste of time, money, and energy, resources that could be better invested elsewhere.
Establishing a political party with the hope of winning a general election, especially when its support base consists primarily of family and friends, appears to be an unrealistic and self-defeating endeavor.
Another possible motivation for Mr. Camara’s political aspirations could be the prestige associated with the title of “former presidential candidate of the Republic of The
Gambia.” Such a credential could enhance his profile and position him for a high-level appointment in the future.
A more strategic move, in my view, would have been to align with one of the major political parties, making a substantial financial contribution and engagement. This approach would have likely secured him a comfortable position while increasing his chances of being part of a winning team in the next general election.
Jummah Mubarak!
