Yesterday, the 22 youths who were arrested were released on bail after a five-hour negotiation with the police. The group initially opted to decline the offer of bail, deciding to stay in custody until their upcoming court appearance.
The young individuals asserted that they had not committed any wrongdoing that justified their detention, emphasizing that they were on their way to the National Assembly to interact with officials.
Through the efforts of lawyers Junkung Jobarteh, Assan Martin, Nfamara Jawno Jawneh, and their colleagues, the youths were informed that their advocacy could achieve greater impact if pursued outside of custody. Following this advice, they ultimately decided to accept bail.
Those who were granted bail include Lamin Biyaye, Omar Sanyang, Abou Camara, Lamin Jammeh, Saffie Lowe, Kemo Fatty, and Amadou.
