Citing an increase of the Ministry’s duties, the Gambia’s government formally renamed the Ministry of Information to the Ministry of Information, Media, and Broadcasting Services.
This change reflects the Ministry’s expanded mandate, which now includes broader responsibilities in the fields of media and broadcasting services, alongside its continued role in disseminating public information, the Ministry of Information announced on Monday. “The Ministry of Information wishes to inform the general public that His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, has approved the renaming of the Ministry of Information to the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services.”
The Ministry added that it is confident the new name reflects the changing media landscape and is in line with national interests.
The Ministry further notifies the public through this notice that the Ministry of Justice has gazetted the official name change.The message ended by saying, “As we move into this new phase, we thank the public for their continued support and cooperation.”
