Following more than eighteen months of rigorous negotiations, APeX is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the coalition-building negotiations it facilitated, involving All People’s Party (APP) Sobeyaa, Gambia For All (GFA), National Unity Party (NUP), Tabax Rewmi Movement, United Democratic Party (UDP), and until today, UNITE whose departure notification we acknowledge.
The conclusion of the negotiations has now culminated in a proposed coalition whose official name is the acronym CHANGE (Coalition for Hope, Accountability, National-renewal, Good-governance, and Equity). This reflects the shared commitment of the participating stakeholders to accountability and democratic reform.
The political stakeholders are now considering the final DRAFT COALITION AGREEMENT including its proposed flagbearer selection process, with a view to formally adopt it on Sunday, 16 August 2026. The Flagbearer selection process is set to begin immediately, and conclude by Sunday 30 August 2026. Full details of Flagbearer selection process will be published in due course.

APeX acknowledges that these negotiations have not been easy. Therefore, we commend all participating stakeholders for the maturity, patriotism, mutual respect and spirit of compromise that characterised the negotiations. Their steadfast commitment to dialogue and consensus has laid the foundation for what we believe is a transformative partnership among themselves, in the service of the Gambian people.
