
On 5 May 2026, the Director General of the Gambia Immigration Department (GID), Mr. Ebrima Mboob, presided over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the GID and the African Migratory Advisory Centre (AMAC) at the Immigration Headquarters in Banjul.
The African Migratory Advisory Centre (AMAC) is dedicated to promoting effective migration management through real-time data collection, migration education, advocacy, and awareness campaigns aimed at addressing irregular migration.
Speaking at the ceremony, AMAC Founder, Mr. Adrian Corish, expressed optimism about the partnership, describing the agreement as a significant milestone. He emphasized that the collaboration will strengthen efforts in migration management, enhance the collection of real-time data on missing migrants, and improve access to reliable migration information. He noted that these efforts are critical to restoring dignity and hope to affected families and communities across The Gambia.
In his remarks, Director General Mboob commended Mr. Corish and his partners for their commitment and dedication to supporting migration management initiatives. He underscored the importance of collaboration, noting that effective migration management requires strong partnerships. He reiterated the GID’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to curb irregular migration across all recognized borders.
The ceremony concluded with the formal signing of the MOU, marking a significant step in both institutions’ shared commitment to collaboration in delivering accurate migration information and strengthening systems for tracking and supporting missing migrants..
