Barrow today presided over the swearing‑in ceremony of the Commissioners for the Lands Commission and the Local Government Service Commission at the State House.
The Lands Commission is composed of Ramond Sock as Chairperson, Kebba Njie, Juldeh Ceesay, Abdoulie Manneh, and Baboucarr Mbaye as members. The Local Government Service Commissioners are Mr Yankuba Sonko as Chairperson, with Abdoulie Sallah, Saffie Lowe-Ceesay and Bahai Hydara.
Delivering his statement, President Barrow underscored the relevance and urgency of establishing these vital institutions, noting their role in strengthening land administration and local governance structures. He urged the newly sworn‑in commissioners to uphold diligence, impartiality, fairness, and professionalism in the execution of their mandates.
Speaking on behalf of their colleagues, Ramond Sock and Yankuba Sonko, Chairpersons of the Lands Commission and the Local Government Service Commission, respectively, expressed gratitude to The Gambia Government for the confidence in them. They assured their commitment to service delivery in accordance with the law.
President Barrow commended the Minister of Lands, Regional Governance and Religious Affairs, partners and stakeholders, for their role in initiating and carefully developing the Land Policy and regulatory framework that paved the way for the establishment of these Commissions.
