The Edward Francis Small Centre for Rights and Justice is pleased to inform the public that it has established two dedicated hotlines for the recording, monitoring, and protection of human rights across the Gambia.EFSCRJ Introduces 24-Hour Human Rights Monitoring Hotlines.
📞 Official 24-Hour Hotlines
• +220 7434610
• +220 3730797
These lines are open 24 hours a day and will receive both calls and SMS/WhatsApp messages on matters relating to:
• Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and violence against women in general
• Corruption and abuse of public office
• Discrimination on account of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, etc.
• Abuse of power
• Any other human rights violations
Reports are not limited to formal institutions. Violations occurring in communities, workplaces, homes, public offices, schools, markets, or any other setting may be reported.
Purpose of the Hotlines: To strengthen EFSCRJ’s human rights protection and accountability work by ensuring that citizens have direct, immediate access to the Centre.
Upon receiving reports, EFSCRJ will, depending on the case:
- Document and analyze cases for evidence-based action.
- Refer matters to relevant state institutions, including but not limited to:
o Office of the President / National Assembly / The Gambia Police Force
o National Human Rights Commission / Ombudsman / Anti-Corruption Commission / Gambia Competition and Consumer Protection Commission / Public Utilities Regulatory Authority / Information Commission, or any other relevant Independent Body
o Relevant Ministry, Department, Agency, or Local Council. - Refer matters to relevant CSO, Media, Private Entity, or other Non-State Actor.
- Pursue strategic litigation or court action in the public interest.
Responsible Use: We urge members of the public to use these lines only for legitimate human rights and justice matters. Abuse or misuse of the lines undermines their purpose and diverts resources from victims in urgent need.
Appreciation: EFSCRJ expresses sincere appreciation to the donors whose support made the acquisition and operationalization of these lines possible.
Support the Work: Together, we can build a human rights–respecting, corruption-free, safe, and just society for all. You can give cash or kind.
