    GAMBIA: Barrow Bids Farewell to Outgoing ECOMIG Commander Ndiagne Diouf, Welcomes Aliou Tine

    President Adama Barrow extended his farewell to the departing ECOMIG Commander Col. Ndiagne DIOUF and greeted the new Force Commander Aliou Tine during a ceremony at the State House.

    Mr. Barrow conveyed sincere appreciation to ECOWAS and the Government of Senegal for their contributions, assuring Commander Tine of the full backing of The Gambia Government. He emphasized the significance of collaborating with Gambian officials to uphold the nation’s standing for tranquil security.

    Commander Aliou Tine expressed his dedication to President Barrow, emphasizing his intention to collaborate closely with local authorities and implement proactive strategies to mitigate potential threats to national stability.

    H.E. Miata Lily French, the Head of Bureau for ECOWAS, has committed to continuing support for peace and stability in The Gambia. She underscored the importance of implementing strategic security measures to ensure the stability of the region.

    Mr. Barrow emphasized the challenges confronting the ECOWAS region, highlighting that it is a collective responsibility to protect the region and uphold its democratic values. He urged all parties involved to work together in safeguarding stability and democracy, emphasizing his dedication to ensuring a transparent, free, and fair election.

    H.E. Mariama Sy, the High Commissioner of Senegal, has reiterated Senegal’s dedication to backing The Gambia. She highlighted Senegal’s commitment to enhancing current collaboration, fostering partnerships, and promoting regional stability.
