The extensive scandal involving the Gambian diplomatic passports is an additional concern that is attracting attention in the Senegalese media. President Adama Barrow has been distributing some 20,000 Gambian diplomatic passports “Kom Kuyy Sedaleh Doggu Mburu,” to foreigners, including Macky Sall’s family members and close allies in Senegal, according to Amed Aidara.
Speaking on AG Radio, Bun Dawda asserted that some of President Adama’s close cronies are still engaged in trafficking drugs. Among them, he mentioned Henry Gomez a special adviser to President Adama Barrow. A few years ago, some Europeans were introduced to Barrow by him and these men were issued with Gambian diplomatic passports; Malagan subsequently revealed that these men were nothing but drug dealers from Germany and other countries.
Bun Dawda asserted that Dr. Ismaila Ceesay did not manage to steer the narrative effectively during his appearance on a Senegalese TV program. The allegations regarding the diplomatic passport should be addressed to the government of Senegal rather than the people.
“Appearing on 2A Tv to connect with the people of Senegal only highlighted the shortsightedness of Dr. Ismaila Ceesay. It would have been more effective for him to appear on national TV alongside esteemed journalists like Pape Ali Niang. In that case, he would have garnered respect from the people of Senegal,” Bun Dawda argued.
