On Friday evening, Bun Dawda appeared on AG Radio providing an in-depth analysis of the billions of Gambian dalasis that were stolen and misappropriated, as revealed by the leaked audit findings from The Gambia Audits office. The findings underscore significant concerns, drawing attention to the government’s involvement in systemic corruption that misappropriates billions of dalasis from taxpayers for personal enrichment. The findings clarify the government’s reasoning behind the decision to remove Mr. Modou Ceesay from his role as Auditor General.
Bun Dawda asserted that thieves and criminals dominate our country’s administration, with one of the most infamous thieves serving as the president of The Gambia. The economic struggles, unemployment, and increasing living costs in The Gambia can all be attributed to governmental corruption under President Adama Barrow
Bun Dawda noted that President Adama Barrow and his associates are all multi-millionaires today, which accounts for their ownership of properties in Turkey and other countries. This administration flourishes through government contracts and deals to bolster their own personal financial viability. They focus on their personal share of government contracts rather than considering what would truly benefit the people.
“Reflect on the effect that the theft of these billions of dalasis could have had on the people of the Gambia.” Bun Dawda asked. President Adama Barrow was determined to prevent Gambians from discovering these leaked audit findings. The longer he stays in power, the more he drains taxpayers’ funds.
The government is yet to respond to these leaked audit findings. The lack of response from the government following these revelations are increasingly unsettling.
