Today, Cherno Amadou Sowe, the recently appointed Auditor General, formally began his duties at the National Audit Office.
The institution’s operations have reportedly resumed as usual, and senior management has urged employees to carry on with their duties uninterrupted. As Mr. Sowe started to get used to his new position, field officers were also dispatched today.
Police Intervention Unit (PIU) personnel forcibly removed Mr. Modou Ceesay from office yesterday, and he has declared his intention to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
Mr. Ceesay said he will challenge his expulsion during a press event with his lawyer. But the lawsuit hasn’t been submitted yet.
