    GAMBIA: Demba Sowe is Appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police by The Gambia Police Force

    After his predecessor, Momodou Sowe, formally retired, the Gambia Police Force (GPF) announced the appointment of Demba Sowe as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).

    DIG Demba Sowe was the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Crime Management until being promoted. He has more than 30 years of law enforcement expertise to his current position. He is a native of Kampassa Village in Foni Jarrol, West Coast Region.

    DIG Sowe has served in a number of important leadership roles since entering the GPF in 1990, including Director of Intelligence at the former National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Commissioner of Administration, and Officer Commanding at Mansa Konko Division.

    He graduated from the University of The Gambia with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Barrister-at-Law (BL) degree. He has also undergone substantial domestic and foreign professional training in fields like peacekeeping, traffic management, and criminal investigation.

    Additionally, DIG Sowe has represented The Gambia on international peacekeeping missions. From 2004 to 2006, he was most prominently involved with the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL).The Police High Command congratulates DIG Demba Sowe on his well-earned promotion and looks forward to his continued leadership in furthering the vision of a professional, accountable, and community-centered Police Force, the GPF High Command said in a statement.
