Dr. Mamadou Tangara, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, has submitted his resignation to President Adama Barrow, according to confirmation from State House.
According to the presidential statement, “President Barrow has accepted the resignation and thanked Hon. Tangara for his dedication, gratitude, and professional service rendered to the nation and wished him success in his new undertakings.”
Tangara, who was President Barrow’s foreign minister from 2018 to 2025, is anticipated to accept a new position as the head of the MISAHEL Office in Bamako, Mali, and the African Union Commission’s Special Representative to the Chairperson of the Commission in Mali and the Sahel.
Over the past few days, there has been rumors that Tangara’s head was on the chopping board and that a government change was impending. However, The Standard was informed by a source close to the foreign ministry that Mr. Tangara had really written his letter of resignation since June 30.
