His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), today presided over the passing out ceremony of ‘Intake 39’ of The Gambia Armed Forces at the McCarthy Square in Banjul.
President Barrow emphasised that the 351 recruited soldiers have demonstrated the resilience, discipline, and mental fortitude required to transition from civilian life to military ranks.
The President while congratulating the soldiers for undergoing a rigorous military training for 22 weeks, urged them to carry out their duties diligently and serve as ambassadors of national unity.
The Commander-in-Chief *urged* The Gambia Armed Forces to remain a pillar of democratic governance by holding themselves accountable to civilian authority, and protective of the freedoms and rights of every Gambian citizen.
As part of the moves to transform the Army into a modern, professional, and well-resourced institution, the President reaffirms his Government’s continuous investments in infrastructure, training, logistics, equipment, and the welfare of the GAF personnel.
