GAMBIA: Gambia Immigration Department’s Act of Treason Exposed

    Share

Along with several colleagues, I have worked on immigration jobs in The Gambia, earning honours and distinctions and maintaining impeccable moral character. It is unacceptable for the Gambian government and the Director General of GID to attempt to deceive Gambians, as they have instead incriminated themselves for economic crimes.

Gambians living overseas do not require identification cards to return home; instead, they need emergency travel documents in cases of voluntary repatriation or forced removal. Unfortunately, The Gambia has malicious actors. The claim regarding the mission to Mauritania is a blatant falsehood aimed at rigging the 2026 presidential elections in favour of Adama Barrow rather than serving our shared interests.

This mission is treasonous and undermines fiscal discipline. Notably, the GID has failed to issue identification cards to Gambians on home soil but can fulfil demands for Gambians in Mauritania. This inconsistency is concerning and familiar, as these actors previously denied Gambians in the diaspora the right to vote.

Fortunately, our cognitive abilities remain intact, unlike theirs. It is disheartening to see good people being exploited to harm the majority and the future of our country. I witnessed the soft-spoken DG GID Ebrima Mboob struggling to justify an unjustifiable position. I am utterly ashamed and concerned, but there is an option for resignation if one’s hands are tied. SMFH.
